The stalactites raised from the bottom of Lake Otchikoto are 80,000 years old, which indicates that the lake was once a giant dolomite cave and was formed as a result of the destruction of the upper part of the cave. The depth of Otchikoto is from 33 to 90 meters, but the legends of local tribes say that Otchikoto is bottomless and communicates with Lake Guinas, which is 130 meters deep, and the water has a surprisingly dark, almost ink color.
